The Bennett daughters meet the undead in the new trailer for the upcoming Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.
Jane Austen’s classic novel gets the zombie apocalypse treatment in the film, based on the hit book of the same name by Seth Grahame-Smith.
Lily James (Cinderella, Downton Abbey) takes the lead as Elizabeth Bennett, a young woman living in the British Regency in the early 1800s who’s forced to deal with a whole new set of issues other than manners and marriage when the undead come knocking at her door.
“To succeed in polite society, a young woman must be many things: kind, well-read and accomplished,” Bennett narrates the trailer. “But to survive in the world as we know it, she’ll need other qualities.”
Cue the zombie-slaying action.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is the second film based on a book by Grahame-Smith, the first being Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter in 2012.
Burr Steers (Charlie St. Cloud, 17 Again) directs off of a script that he wrote in collaboration with David O. Russell (American Hustle, Silver Linings Playbook). Jack Huston, Matt Smith, Lena Headey, Douglas Booth, Sam Riley, and Charles Dance co-star.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies hits theaters February 5, 2016. Check out the trailer above.
