The first trailer for the romantic drama with a homeless twist, Shelter, was released online Friday.
Shelter tells the story of Hannah (Jennifer Connelly) and Tahir (Anthony Mackie), two people living on the streets of New York City who form a connection over their shared circumstances. As they begin to learn more about each other and themselves, they realize they need each other to build their future, but painful histories threaten to get in the way.
The film earned solid reviews after its premiere at last month’s Toronto International Film Festival. The Hollywood Reporter‘s John DeFore called Connelly and Mackie’s performances “thoroughly convincing” and said the film played like “something more sincere [than awards fodder], an empathetic if imperfect attempt to imagine life on the streets and find a specific story there.”
Paul Bettany makes his directorial debut with Shelter and also penned the script. Amy Hargreaves and Bruce Altman co-star.
Shelter will be released in select US theaters November 13, and in the UK on November 27. Check out the trailer above.
