Outspoken conservative actor James Woods used social media to excoriate President Obama’s response to the school shooting in Oregon that left nine people dead this week as well as the shooter.
Specifically, the actor called out Obama for what he perceived was the president’s silence on the fact that gunman Chris Harper Mercer reportedly asked each of his victims which religion they practiced before he shot them, with those who identified as Christians being immediately shot in the head.
Woods was making reference to Obama’s performance of “Amazing Grace” at the funeral of the Rev. Clementa Pinckney, who was killed along with eight others at the Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina in June.
Woods has never been one to shy away from stinging criticism; the actor came out of a self-imposed Twitter hiatus in December after two NYPD officers were murdered while sitting in their patrol car in Brooklyn.
Last month, Woods endorsed former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina for president and announced that he would narrate a film for her campaign.
