Photographs of Jim Carrey smiling and socializing at a party in Hollywood the night he broke up with his girlfriend Cathriona White, who later died of an apparent suicide, have surfaced.
TMZ reported Tuesday that White’s body was first discovered by friends, who had stopped by her Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles home to check on her.
Police believe she died of a drug overdose, as pills were found next to her body.
Cathriona, 30, also left a suicide note that mentioned her Sept. 24 break up with Carrey, 53, according to reports.
White posted a cryptic message to her Twitter account around 5 p.m. on Sept. 24, which reads: “Signing off Twitter, I hope I have been a light to my nearest and dearest.”
The Daily Mail reports Carrey attended a party at MILK Studios in Hollywood about two hours after White’s social media post, and has shared several photographs of the comedian smiling and chatting with multiple women at the event.
“He didn’t look sad. He fit in just like every other hipster at the party,” said a commenter in regards to the pictures, according to the Mail
Four days later, White was found dead at her home of a suspected suicide.
Carrey released a statement Tuesday, following the news of Cathriona’s death.
“She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for the soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled,” he wrote. “My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her. We have all been hit with a lightning bolt.”
White and Carrey started dating in the summer of 2012, but had ended their relationship by March 2013.
The pair were spotted holding hands in New York City in May of this year, and seemingly rekindled their romance before calling it quits again last week.
A neighbor of White’s told The Sun White appeared paranoid and depressed a few days before she passed.
“She wasn’t smiling. She seemed paranoid – she’d also installed security cameras all over the property in the last couple of months,” the neighbor said.
“She was very private and had only lived in the house a few months. I’d heard Carrey was her boyfriend but never saw him there,” said another neighbor.
One of Cathriona’s last Instagram posts reads:
Faeries, come take me out of this dull world,
For I would ride with you upon the wind,
Run on the top of the dishevelled tide,
And dance upon the mountains like a flame.
