Ariana Grande has been relatively quiet since getting busted saying she hates Americans in July. This week, the singer emerged to announce she has zero tolerance for those who think being gay is abnormal.
The 22-year-old made headlines over the summer after she was caught on video making anti-American statements while licking doughnuts she never paid for. Grande is now back in the limelight to discuss the type of anti-gay behavior she says makes her a “raging lunatic.”
“I mean, here’s the thing: I wasn’t raised in a household where it was considered abnormal to be gay,” Grande, whose brother is gay, told V Magazine this month. “It’s something I’m super passionate about, because whenever I would see my friends get bullied, or my brother get hurt for his sexuality, I would become a raging lunatic.”
Grande continued, going off on people for being superficial:
When you see someone you love hurting, for such a superficial, bullsh*t reason, it’s like, how small and spiritually unenlightened and dumb as f*ck can a person be?
How much further can your head get up your a** that you’re actually judging someone as a person based on their sexuality before you even have a conversation with them?
Grande was caught on video July 4 licking doughnuts at a Southern California bakery. She was quoted as saying, “I hate America,” and “I hate Americans.”
The singer later claimed her comments were directed at the United States’ problems with obesity.
“As an advocate for healthy eating, food is very important to me and I sometimes get upset by how freely we as Americans eat and consume things without giving any thought to the consequences that it has on our health and society as a whole,” said Grande. “The fact that the United States has the highest child obesity rate in the world frustrates me.”
