Stephen Colbert showed his support for Black Lives Matter by donning a wristband with the anti-cop catchphrase on his right wrist during Friday night’s broadcast of The Late Show.

Colbert was apparently asked to wear the bracelet by Black Lives Matter supporter and New York street artist who goes by the name of Patrick Waldo.

“I stood up and nervously told him I’m a longtime fan. Then I told him I’ve been involved in the Black Lives Matter movement for the last year,” Waldo said on his Twitter and Instagram accounts:

Waldo even thanked Colbert for wearing the bracelet:

The man did not hide it! Thank you @colbertlateshow for your not so subtle support of #BlackLivesMatter

Colbert didn’t mention the bracelet of Black Lives Matter on Friday’s show which featured guests appearances from Amy Schumer, Stephen King, and Paul Simon. It doesn’t appear Colbert has expressed similar support for police by wearing a Blue Lives Matter wristband.

Black Lives Matter protesters have called for violence against police officers from Illinois to New York to Texas.

A majority of Americans disagree with the group tactics and its name, including 64 percent of black Americans who said they prefer the phrase “all lives matter.”
