The first trailer for Jake Gyllenhaal’s Demolition hit Monday, and shows the bankable star playing the role of Davis Mitchell, a complicated financial guru who learns that in order to rebuild his life, he must first tear it all down.
Just minutes after losing his wife to a car accident, which he survives, the investment banker rants to a vending machine company in a letter about his M&Ms failing to fall from their rack. The complaint is dwarfed by news of his wife’s death, and other stunning admissions.
Davis’s life then begins to spiral out of control, as His father-in-law tries to snap him out of his depression.
Despite the best efforts of the in-law, Davis is still reeling, and resolves to fix his broken past by destroying everything in his life.
Demolition co-stars Chris Cooper and Naomi Watts, and is set for an April 8, 2016 release.
The film is being directed by Jean-Marc Vallee (Dallas Buyers Club) and was written by Bryan Sipe.
