Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe stars as Rockstar Games co-founder Sam Houser in this month’s BBC TV movie The Gamechangers.
As head of Rockstar, Houser helped to develop and create the Grand Theft Auto video game series in 2002. But American attorney Jack Thompson led a crusade against the game for what he called its glorification of sex and violence.
The Gamechangers tells the true story of the relationship between Houser and Thompson (Bill Paxton), as the two battled over what would eventually become one of the most successful entertainment franchises of all time.
Owen Harris (Kill Your Friends) directs off a script from James Wood.
Rockstar Games has sued the BBC over the movie, citing intellectual property concerns. But apparently that lawsuit hasn’t derailed the film’s release: The Gamechangers premieres September 15 on BBC2 2.
