Are y’all ready for Kanye, or nah?
According to a new report, a Maryland-based conservative activist named Eugene Craig III has filed paperwork with the Federal Election Committee to form a “Ready for Kanye” committee.
(West announced Sunday night at the VMAs he intends to run for president in 2020).
“It’s not about me. It’s about ideas. New ideas. People with ideas. People who believe in truth,” said West Sunday. “And yes, as you probably could’ve guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president.”
Craig, whose Twitter bio describes him as a grass-roots activist for liberty and a Maryland GOP local official, also launched the Young Minority Republican Fund.
Kanye did confess he had “rolled up a little something” prior to his big announcement, so it remains unclear how serious he is about running.
Should he proceed, the “Ready for Kanye” committee would be permitted to raise funds in an effort to draft West into the 2020 presidential race.
Eugene Craig III is the chairman of the national Young Minority Republicans Fund.
