Former Colbert Report funnyman Stephen Colbert is set to take the reins of CBS’ The Late Show next month–and some big political names will join him for interviews during the show’s second week.
Vermont senator and Democrat presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, UN general secretary Ban Ki-Moon and Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer will all appear on The Late Show in its second full week, reports Deadline. Breyer’s appearance may mark the first time a sitting Supreme Court justice has ever appeared on a late-night talk show.
Sanders will become the second presidential candidate of this election cycle to visit Colbert’s show; earlier this month, Colbert announced that Republican Jeb Bush would be a guest on the program’s very first episode.
During an appearance at the Television Critics Association summer press tour this month, Colbert said his show would continue to explore politics in ways that other late-night shows do not, much like his previous Comedy Central show did.
Colbert also expressed hope at the TCA press tour that current Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump would remain in the race until his Late Show debut on September 8.
“Every little boy grows up believing they could be president of the United States. I’m so happy that little boy is Donald Trump,” Colbert said earlier this month while noting that until his show gets on the air, he’s just “dry Trumping.”
