It’s not particularly hard to see why Hollywood films put teenagers in apocalyptic scenarios or in battles against the undead.
Young people want to believe that when all hell breaks loose, when there’s no one around to tell them what to do or who to be, they can save the world, get the girl, and maim and kill zombies using all kinds of cool weapons. Who wouldn’t want to live that?
Zombieland played that scenario up to delightful effect in 2009, although the film was almost criminally under-seen and underrated.
Now, Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse asks the same question.
The film follows a group of high-school Boy Scouts who are forced to delay plans to attend the big party after their town gets overrun by the walking dead. Add a stripper (ahem, “cocktail waitress”) into the mix, and it’s every teenage male’s fantasy, right?
Scouts Guide stars Tye Sheridan, Patrick Schwarzenegger, and Logan Miller as the Scouts, and up-and-comer Halston Sage (Neighbors, Paper Towns) as the cocktail waitress.
Christopher Landon (Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones) directs.
Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse hits theaters October 30. Check out the trailer above.
