Former Scandal co-star and singer Columbus Short was waiting to perform at Los Angeles’ Infusion Lounge at Universal City Walk Wednesday, when he was detained and arrested by bounty hunters.
The 32-year-old, who was fired by ABC’s Scandal over allegations of domestic violence in April 2014, has had numerous run-ins with law enforcement over the past year. Despite legal woes, Short had no active warrants at the time of his arrest, according to Page Six.
Short is accused of owing a former bail bondsman $500,000, which his team is disputing.
“It appears that this is a citizen’s arrest as a result of an issue between Mr. Short and his bail bondsman,” representatives for the star tell Page Six. “The reported bail amount of $500,000 is also inaccurate. No additional information is available at this time.”
E! News reports Short was taken to the Men’s Central Jail in Los Angeles, and was expected to appear in court Thursday morning.
The star has been accused of domestic violence and assault in the past, and was arrested in Texas in July 2014 for public intoxication. He has also admitted to struggling with an addiction to cocaine.
