In addition to spending at least the next five years in prison for possessing and sharing child pornography, and traveling to have sex with underage girls, former Subway spokesman Jared Fogle will soon be a single man.
E! News reports Fogle’s wife, Katie Fogle, is seeking an immediate end to their five-year marriage. The couple first met in 2000, and married in 2010, following Jared’s divorce from his first wife, Elizabeth.
Jared and Katie have two young children.
“Obviously, I am extremely shocked and disappointed by the recent developments involving Jared. I am in the process of seeking a dissolution of the marriage,” Katie Fogle said in a statement to the media Wednseday.
Katie added: “My focus is exclusively on the well-being of my children. Neither I nor my family will have any further comment on the matter. I appreciate respect for my family’s privacy during this difficult time.”
Jared Fogle accepted a plea deal Wednesday, and will serve at least five years in prison for “distributing and receiving visual depictions of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct a d conspiring with others to do so,” and traveling to “engage in unlawful commercial sexual acts with minors.”
Fogle must also pay restitution to 14 victims, totaling $1.4 million, or $100,000 per victim.
Documents from a federal case against Fogle were released Wednesday, and the defendant acknowledged past predatory behavior, including intentionally seeking to pay for sex with minor children, and requesting nude photos from his victims.
Fogle had been the face of Subway for more than 15 years, but the company ended its relationship with him on Tuesday.
