You thought that Cara Delevingne interview was bad.
The cast of the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot had to patiently sit through a barrage of seemingly racially charged and sexist questions lobbed at them by Atlanta’s Rock 100.5 Morning Show host Southside Steve in an interview last week.
The film’s stars–Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara and Jamie Bell–began by telling host Steven J. Rickman they hadn’t yet seen the film.
“Am I missing something? Because the obvious questions is, you’re white and you’re black,” Rickman asked. “How does that happen? Because in the other [Fantastic Four movie], they’re just brother and sister, there’s no backstory.”
“I think they did the same thing with this one too, I don’t think there’s any backstory, they’re just brother and sister,” Jordan explained.
“How did that happen?” Rickman presses. “There has to be some type of adoption thing going on.”
“They could be raised as brother and sister, there’s a whole bunch of family dynamics that could be, without the obvious adoption…”
Switching gears, the host tells Mara he loved her performance in Shooter before taking things to the next uncomfortable level:
“You’re way, way, hot,” Rickman says while Mara seemingly laughs it off. “Why’d you cut the hair? Your hair was beautiful.”
“I’m sorry, I know you don’t like it, I can tell,” Mara replies. “This is a great interview,” she adds in an aside to her two co-stars.
After Rickman repeatedly needles her about her hair, co-host Jason Bailey steps in and asks Mara if Southside Steve is freaking her out over the weird line of questioning. But before Mara can respond, Rickman ups the inappropriate level even further.
“I’m a toe guy,” the host says of Mara’s feet. “Your toes are fine.”
At that point, publicists stepped in and shut the interview down.
In a statement to Buzzfeed, Bailey defended Rickman’s questions about Mara’s appearance.
“My partner’s conversation about Kate’s hair is something that came up while Michael B. Jordan took a phone call so I think they were kind of just going back and forth in a playful way,” Bailey said. “As for him complimenting her toes and why people are upset about that…sorry…no idea. Steve likes girl’s toes. People should be appreciative when they get complimented. Those that are upset on Twitter I guess don’t get enough of them. Who knows?”

Fantastic Four is in theaters August 7.
