Pete Hines, marketing executive of Bethesda Softworks, has said that role-playing game Fallout 4 is “basically done.” The studio is working on fixing bugs before the game’s Tuesday, November 10 release date.

The marketing executive stated, “Let’s be honest, [right now] it doesn’t matter what anybody wants for a feature in Fallout 4. The game is basically done. It was by and large done before we announced it, in terms of the features going in. You’re not adding new features in May, June, July in the year you’re releasing; you’re trying to get everything fixed.”

But gamer feedback has not been ignored; Bethesda has paid attention to reviews and discussions circulating in the Fallout 3 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim communities. Reflecting on mistakes in Skyrim, Bethesda game director Tom Howard said, “For us, [the player’s] saved game is the number one thing. If the game crashes that’s bad, but it is nowhere near as bad as someone’s saved game being hosed. That’s our scenario that we will do anything and everything to avoid. We made a lot of progress given how Skyrim went, but we did it during Skyrim. This just builds on that.”

Hines also commented on player feedback, saying, “All of that stuff is important. A good developer knows how to take all that and figure out how to address is [sic]. You can do anything, you just can’t do everything. So you have to be able to prioritize and figure out what are the big wins, what are the challenges you’re going to tackle, and what are the things you just don’t have the bandwidth to take on.”
