Amanda Peterson, star of the 1980s romantic comedy Can’t Buy Me Love, has died at age 43, reports TMZ.
According to the site, one of Amanda’s parents became concerned after they hadn’t heard from her for a number of days.
Her body was then discovered in her home on July 5.
Her official cause of death is still unknown, but her father said Monday, “she had some illness and a sleep apnea problem that may have contributed.”
Amanda had reportedly been struggling with pneumonia, sinusitis, and sleep apnea for the past two years and also lived in a home with mold issues at one point.
Peterson rose to prominence playing popular high school cheerleader Cindy Mancini in the 1987 flick Can’t Buy Me Love, alongside Patrick Dempsey, but left Hollywood in 1994.
Amanda had most recently been trying to pursue a career as a writer, according to TMZ.
