Developer Mojang has ended development of its computer card game Scrolls. Mojang stated that it will certainly keep the servers open until July 1, 2016, with future profits from the game going towards an extension of the game’s life.
Mojang, the studio also behind hit game Minecraft, said that “the launch of the Scrolls beta was a great success. Tens of thousands of players battled daily, and many of them remain active today. Unfortunately, the game has reached a point where it can no longer sustain continuous development.”
Mojang’s last expansion to Scrolls was Echoes, which was released Tuesday, June 9, 2015, and added 60 scrolls to the game. The rank ladder was also reset, with a new reset planned to occur every eight weeks. Mojang boosted gold rewards earned in Quick, Ranked, and Skirmish matches. Custom matches and replays have been added, as well.
