Hollywood power couple Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are calling it quits after ten years of marriage.

The couple, who share three children together and celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary Monday, issued a joint statement to People magazine on Tuesday to confirm the news.

“After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce,” Affleck and Garner wrote in a statement. “We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time. This will be our only comment on this private, family matter. Thank you for understanding.”

A source close to the couple said Affleck, 42, and Garner, 43, plan to seek mediation and will file for divorce after they divide their assets and resolve all custody issues.

Additionally, the divorce is reportedly amicable, and Affleck and Garner will continue to live on the same property.

“It’s obviously a very sad time for both of them,” a source told ABC News. “They have been trying to save the marriage for years, but they know it’s the right thing for their family and for them. The kids will continue to come before everything.”

The pair will share joint custody of their three kids: Violet, 9, Seraphina, 6, and Samuel, 3.

Another source close to Garner reportedly told TMZ Affleck’s drinking and gambling had escalated to the point “she couldn’t take it anymore.”
