Two voice actors from critically-acclaimed survival-horror game The Last of Us recently made contradictory statements concerning the existence of a sequel.
While Nolan North, the voice of David, confirmed The Last of Us 2, Troy Baker, who voiced the main character from the first game, Joel, said he was unaware of any sequel.
At a Q&A event at Metrocon, North was asked if he was working on anything other than action-adventure title Uncharted 4 with developer Naughty Dog. He replied in the negative, before stating, “I know they’re doing a Last of Us 2 but my character in Last of Us kind of had an untimely demise.”
Meanwhile, at Indy PopCon, Baker said “I know nothing. I don’t know if we’re gonna do another one or not. If we do, then I trust Neil [creative director Druckmann] and Bruce [game director Straley] and everyone at Naughty Dog to tell a story that needs to be told.”
While the death of Nolan’s character suggests that the voice actor may not be in the loop for conversations about a potential The Last of Us 2, Baker could also be unaware of a sequel that might choose to focus on characters other than Joel.
