A Georgia grand jury has indicted the grandson of rapper and TV star Ice-T following the shooting death of his roommate, the Atlanta journal-Consitution reports.
According to police, Elyjah Marrow, 20, a resident of the Atlanta suburb of Marietta was arrested in June of 2014 after he allegedly shot 19-year-old Daryus Johnson in the chest while handling a stolen gun, the paper reports.
Johnson later died from his injuries at an area hospital.
Marrow, who had appeared in the E! reality series Ice Loves Coco alongside his grandfather, claimed a stolen handgun he was holding accidentally went off in an apartment shared by he and Johnson, striking the teen in the chest.
Investigators then reportedly found marijuana in the apartment, and Marrow allegedly admitted he had been selling the drug, according to an arrest warrant obtained by the AJC.
According to the Cobb County District Attorney’s Office, Marrow was indicted a week ago on charges of involuntary manslaughter, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana more than an ounce, theft by receiving stolen property and possession of firearm during commission of a felony reckless conduct.
Ice-T, born Tracy Marrow, was originally known for his explicit gangster rap music, including a 1992 track titled “Cop Killer.”
The rapper later went mainstream, and appeared as Detective Odafin Tutuola in more than 300 episodes of the TV series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
Elyjah Marrow is currently free on bond.
