Microsoft’s Windows 10 will be released on Wednesday, July 29. The package features digital assistant Cortana, browser Microsoft Edge, Office 2016, and Xbox Live on other Windows devices.
Users can speak or type to Cortana, which gives suggestions, information, and reminders. The service is available via both PC and smartphone.
While Internet Explorer had backward compatibility functions, its replacement browser Edge will not work with Microsoft ActiveX, Browsers Helper Objects, and some toolbars. It will be compatible with Adobe Flash and PDF. Edge runs twice as fast as Internet Explorer and even faster than Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. HTML and JavaScript extensions will work on Edge by the end of 2015. The browser also contains a “reading view” that removes ads, menus, and other eyesores to enable easier reading.
Office 2016 allows users to edit across platforms and features a free OneNote to take notes and email/calendar tool Outlook.
