Contrary to reporting from many in the gaming press, developer Techland has not canceled its dark fantasy co-op hack-and-slash game Hellraid.
Last week, sites like IGN, Digital Trends, and Game Rant published articles claiming Hellraid was canceled after Techland announced on Facebook that the game had “been put on hold.” However, Techland CEO Pawel Marchewka stated that the studio has not canceled the title and is instead just currently devoting its efforts to of the studio’s games, Dying Light.
“Once we deliver everything we want [for Dying Light], probably by the – I don’t know – end of the third quarter this year, we will then maybe start to send some new [Hellraid] materials or informations [sic] or thinking about what’s the release date, something like that. There is nothing concrete about this time,” he stated.
Techland has stated that Hellraid will be “sent back to the drawing board,” with the CEO elaborating that “the game’s trying to do all kinds of things… Dying Light – every one of our games – had this problem, we always wanted to create something bigger than we should.” However, he was adamant in confirming that “it’s definitely not dead.”
