Bruce Willis spent Memorial Day honoring America’s injured and fallen heroes alongside the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) in New York.

The New York Post reports the actor joined members of the WWP and the Memorial Day Foundation to honor U.S. servicemen and women during a ceremony at the Horse Soldier Statue near the World Trade Center.

The group then left wreaths at other sites to pay tribute to the fallen.

Willis’ father was an American soldier, and the actor has described himself as coming from a “long line of blue collar people.”

The Die Hard star and his band previously performed for troops in Iraq and appeared in TV ads to benefit wounded warriors.

This past Christmas, Willis sent a special video message to deployed troops to show his gratitude for those who sacrifice so much for their country.

“Now is the time they need us most. We must all do our part to say thank you,” he said. “In support of our troops and military families stationed around the world … thank you. Thank you for your service and sacrifice.”
