Ryan McDill, the first contestant to be dismissed from season 11 of The Bachelorette, told TMZ Wednesday he will not apologize for a rape joke that got him booted from the popular reality TV series.
During the premiere, the intoxicated McDill was confronted by a fellow suitor, JJ O’Brien, over his drunken antics, which included getting too cozy with his hands.
“Why am I not raping you right now?” McDill responded to her after ripping his shirt open.
O’Brien then asked him, “why is ‘rape’ your go-to-word … Maybe the bigger question is, why are you here?”
McDill’s comment shocked both producers and viewers at home, and ultimately resulted in his dismissal from the show.
According to Us Magazine, McDill groped Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe’s butt and got a little to close for comfort to Britt Nilsson during his drunken episode.
The former contestant now tells TMZ that he feels no remorse for the incident because it boosted ratings for the show.
“I wasn’t blacked out,” he said. “And knew exactly what I was doing.”
“People need to get off their high horse…It was awesome and entertaining,” he continued.
McDill believes producers should be thanking him for his rape joke because it was “the only reason the first episode was the sh*t.”
