Comedian Bill Murray began his Tuesday night at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City, where he taped his final appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman, but by the time it was over, he was so intoxicated he fell out of his chair on MSNBC.
Murray surprised the retiring Late Show host by jumping out of large cake that said, “Goodbye Dave.”
After embracing the longtime CBS fixture, Murray cannonballed vodka with him during their sit down interview, and said, “You’ve had a wonderful run… You fell in love and you married a virgin who gave birth to an infant god child … then your wife gave up the virgin thing completely and you’ve been rolling ever since. ”

A few moments later, Letterman took the bottle away from Murray, and after the interview, the comedian ran out of the studio covered in cake in an attempt to get others to help him convince the host not to leave.
The party did not stop there for the Caddyshack actor.
After his Letterman spot, Murray appeared on MSNBC’s The Last Word, but it became obvious he might have celebrated a little too hard with Dave.
As host Lawrence O’Donnell teased an upcoming segment with Murray and former Late Show head writer Jim Downey, the actor stumbled over to a chair, sat down, and then fell backwards onto the floor as the broadcast cut to a commercial.
Bill later explained after the break, “I just did the Letterman show, then went to dinner, had oysters, rosé wine, red wine, and duck.”
