Director Wes Anderson’s distinctive optical tastes throughout his career have often been credited for setting the mood in his films. From Rushmore to The Grand Budapest Hotel, Anderson has proven to have a particular eye for décor.

So, it comes as no surprise that when given the opportunity to lend his imagination for the creation of a café in Milan, Italy the place ended up looking as though it could serve as a living replica of an Anderson movie set.

The 46-year-old tried his hand at interior design with Bar Luce, and according to the location’s website, his only intent was to make the place comfortable. He said of the project:

There is no ideal angle for this space. It is for real life, and ought to have numerous good spots for eating, drinking, talking, reading, etc. While I do think it would make a pretty good movie set, I think it would be an even better place to write a movie. I tried to make it a bar I would want to spend my own non-fictional afternoons in.
