During her final appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman Thursday, Tina Fey gave the longtime host a memorable goodbye when she stripped down to her spanx and vowed to never dress up again.
Letterman will officially retire from late-night television on May 20 after 33 years.
“I realize when you retire this is it – I am never gonna wear a fancy dress again,” she said. “My gift to you is I wanna give you the dress.”
Fey then asked Letterman to unzip her blue ensemble for her.
“It is very hard work. I’m not sure if you’re aware of the contraptions – it is almost medical. I dress up for you,” she explained.
Underneath her dress, the actress was wearing a pair of spanx, a nude bra, and a black leotard which read, “Bye Dave!”
Fey is reportedly just one of the big names slated to appear before Letterman ahead of his final show later this month.
CBS announced David will be joined by celebrity guests including George Clooney, Tom Hanks, Robert Downey Jr., Jerry Seinfeld, Steve Martin, and Sarah Jessica Parker.
Alec Baldwin, Julia Roberts, Howard Stern, Oprah Winfrey, John Travolta, and Michael J. Fox will also make appearances on the show.
Stephen Colbert is scheduled to become the newest Late Show host in September following Letterman’s departure.
