Sofia Vergara’s Ex Suing Her to Save Their Frozen Embryos

Businessman Nick Loeb is suing his former fiancée, Sofia Vergara, to prevent her from destroying two female embryos created by the couple through in vitro fertilization six months before they called it quits.

Using sperm from Loeb and eggs from Vergara, the embryos were created in 2013, but the pair split up for good in 2014, InTouch reports. Loeb sued his former sweetheart last August to “ensure that the female embryos” are kept safe because Vergara, under the pseudonym Jane Doe, “refuses to agree to their preservation under all circumstances.”

The court documents reveal that Loeb and the Modern Family actress unsuccessfully attempted to implant an embryo in a surrogate mother, twice. Now, there are two female embryos left that Sofia “hoped [would] ultimately be destroyed.”

Furthermore, Mr. Loeb also alleges that Vergara was “physically and mentally abusive” during their relationship. In documents, he claims that Vergara punched him in the face more than once, threw her phone at his head, and verbally attacked him on more than one occasion.

“Nick is very emotionally invested in these female embryos because he’s pro-life and believes life begins at conception,” a source close to Loeb reportedly told the magazine. “Nick has always wanted to be a father and will do whatever it takes to save these two remaining female embryos.”

The fertility center the former couple used reportedly asked them to fill out forms about what would happen to the embryos in the event of a death by either party, but not separation.
