Rapper Kanye West and reality television star wife Kim Kardashian were in Jerusalem’s Old City on Monday for the baptism of their daughter, North West.
According to the Times of Israel, 21-month-old North was baptized in the St. James Cathedral in the Old City’s Armenian Quarter on Monday afternoon.
“Kim Kardashian’s daughter will be baptized and she will become a Christian officially and a member of the Armenian church,” Archbishop Aris Shirvanian told reporters gathered outside the ceremony.
The famous family was reportedly mobbed by hundreds of screaming fans as they made their way into the church. According to photos taken by the Daily Mail, Kanye and his daughter sported matching all-white attire for the big day.
After the ceremony, the Wests dined with Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat:
West and Kardashian were in Jerusalem as part of a larger week-long swing through the Middle East. Before landing at Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport in a private plane, the couple reportedly spent a few days in Armenia, where the Kardashian family traces its roots. On Sunday night, Kanye gave a free concert in the capital city of Yerevan, where he reportedly dove into Swan Lake to get closer to his cheering fans.
While in Armenia, the couple also met with Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan.
As part of their Jerusalem trip, the couple were expected to visit the Western Wall and film segments for Kardashian’s popular television show Keeping Up with the Kardashians. At the conclusion of their visit to the Holy Land, the Kardashian-West clan will reportedly jet to Jordan.
