How far is too far when it comes to method acting?
Fifty Shades of Grey actor Jamie Dornan has confessed to stalking an unsuspecting female stranger to prepare for his upcoming role as serial killer Paul Spector in The Fall.
The 32-year-old is now a household name for his role as sadomasochist billionaire Christian Grey, and he took his next role seriously. Maybe too seriously.
“Can we get arrested for this? Dornan asked the Los Angeles Times. “On the tube, which is our underground system… this is a really bad reveal: I, like, followed a woman off the train one day to see what it felt like to pursue someone like that.”
Dornan then confessed to following the woman for a decent amount of time, adding, “It felt kind of exciting, in a really sort of dirty way… I’m sort of not proud of myself.”
The Irish actor revealed to the Guardian in March how surprisingly comfortable he is portraying “sick psychopaths” in film.
“I consider myself quite light-hearted, pretty easy-going, and I keep playing sick psychopath bastards! It kind of worries me sometimes how comfortable I am in that zone,” he said.
Dornan also confirmed his return to the Fifty Shades franchise, which has two more novels to be adapted for the silver screen. He will earn seven figures playing the S&M loving Mr. Grey in the sequel, reports The Daily Mail.
Dornan and his co-star Dakota Johnson reportedly took home $250,000 each from the first film, and received no backend compensation, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The hotly anticipated film grossed more than $550 million at the global box office.
Meanwhile, Dornan has his sights set on an upcoming wartime flick, call Anthropoid, in which he will play a Czech soldier during the 1942 assassination attempt on SS officer Reinhard Heydrich.
