WATCH: Ryan Gosling Helps Woman Propose to Girlfriend Onstage at SXSW Fest

Ryan Gosling and the cast of his latest film Lost River got quite a surprise during the film’s Q&A panel at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival on Saturday.

One woman who was called on to ask a question stood up and told Gosling, “I think your film was amazing, and I’m going to kinda take away for a second if I can, and ask my girlfriend of 11 years if she’ll marry me.” (Clip of the proposal starts at 11:42 mark in the above video).

The crowd and the panel gasped and cheered.

“We’ve got a marriage proposal going on,” Gosling said. “Do you want the mic?”

After taking over the mic, the woman started in with her proposal.

“This really wasn’t planned,” she explained. “This was gonna be a different type of ring, but my heart just started pounding and I couldn’t help it. We’ve been together for 11 years, and have had many ups and downs, and she finally moved here to be with me a few months ago after two years of being apart.”

The couple embraced, as the crowd and panel cheered them on and clapped.

“Well let’s go out on that note, shall we?” Gosling joked as the panel concluded.
