Kevin Spacey and CNN are teaming up for a new documentary mini-series entitled Race for the White House, CNN announced Monday.

The actor will narrate the series’ six episodes, each of which will tell the story of a “four-year, no-holds-barred battle to become the most powerful person in the world, culminating in a single night of heart pounding tension,” according to a CNN release.

The series will incorporate previously unseen archive footage and interviews with the central figures of past presidential campaigns, reports theWrap.

Spacey will also serve as executive producer on the project, alongside his Trigger Street Productions partner Dana Brunetti. Trigger Street and Raw will co-produce the series.

“We are absolutely thrilled to have Kevin Spacey and Dana Brunetti bring their world-class talent to CNN,” network president Jeff Zucker said in a statement. “When we created the CNN Original Series brand, this is exactly the type of programming we had in mind and Race for the White House will be the perfect complement to our coverage of the 2016 campaigns and election.”

Variety speculates that CNN’s foray into original programming may be an attempt to attract advertisers who do not want their messages aired during breaking news programs. CNN is likely looking to bolster its stable of programming ahead of this year’s “upfront” marketplace, where networks attempt to sell as much of their advertising space as possible.

Race for the White House marks Spacey’s second prominent political project in recent years; his political thriller House of Cards has been a critical and commercial success for Netflix. The series’ third season was released last month.
