Vogue style editor-at-large Elisabeth von Thurn und Taxis, a member of German royalty, is being described as “out of touch,” among other things, after she shared a photo of a homeless woman reading Vogue magazine.
In an Instagram post that has since been taken down, the princess and fashionista shared an image Saturday of what appeared to be a homeless woman she encountered reading the mag on a Parisian sidewalk .
“Paris is full of surprises….and @voguemagazine readers even in unexpected corners!” she captioned the photo, reports CNN.
Not long after the image was published, Instagram users took notice and made the aristocrat aware of how ignoble they felt her actions were.
“I think this photo was taken in poor taste. Shame on you,” said one user, while another wrote: “This photo is cruel and in really poor taste.”
Another woman stated: “I’ll probs be sitting right next to you.”
The industry news website Fashionista soon jumped onboard and described Thurn und Taxis’s post as “disturbingly out of touch,” also citing previous content posted by the German beauty.
One Twitter user simply asked, “Did you giver her any money for food?”
Elisabeth soon apologized for the errant post and took to the image sharing site to say, “I wanted to extend my sincerest apologies for the offense my post has caused. Yours truly Elisabeth.”
Elisabeth von Thurn und Taxis was hired by Vogue in 2012.
