Actor Harrison Ford was injured Thursday afternoon, after a vintage World War II era airplane he was piloting crash landed on a golf course in Venice, CA, TMZ reports.
The actor and avid plane and helicopter pilot was reportedly stabilized and taken to a local hospital, after sources told ABC News 7 he crashed shortly after takeoff.
Ford’s injuries were initially described as “critical,” but officials have now described his condition as “serious,” to “moderate,” with lacerations to the head and possible fractures.
Authorities at this time have not released the extent of Ford’s injuries but have said he left the scene alert and conscious.
One source told NBC News, “There was blood all over his face… Two very fine doctors were treating him, taking good care of him. I helped put a blanket under his hip.” Fortuitously, the doctors were playing at Penmar golf course when the plane went down.
Witnesses told authorities the plane was making a strange sound prior to touching down on the golf course and that Ford had requested first aid after exiting the aircraft under his own power.

TMZ has obtained audio of Ford describing “engine failure” to air traffic control operators before a requesting an “immediate return” to the airport.
