Jordan’s King Abdullah had some choice words for ISIS in a private meeting with U.S. lawmakers on Tuesday.
King Abdullah met with U.S. representatives shortly after news broke that the terrorist outfit ISIS had burned a Jordanian pilot alive in a cage. Video of the incident triggered outrage around the world.
On Wednesday, Jordan executed two jihadi prisoners in retaliation for the murder of the pilot.
According to the Washington Examiner, King Abdullah was so angered by the attack that he could not find the proper words in the meeting; instead, he used the words of Clint Eastwood’s character, William Munny, in the 1992 Academy Award-winning film Unforgiven.
“He said there is going to be retribution like ISIS hasn’t seen,” Rep. Duncan Hunter Jr. (R-CA) told the Examiner. “He mentioned Unforgiven and he mentioned Clint Eastwood, and he actually quoted a part of the movie.”
While Hunter did not specify which exact quote the king used, the Examiner speculates that it could be this line, famously delivered by Eastwood: “Any man I see out there, I’m gonna kill him. Any son of a bitch takes a shot at me, I’m not only going to kill him, I’m going to kill his wife and all his friends and burn his damn house down.”
“They’re starting more sorties tomorrow than they’ve ever had,” Hunter told the paper of Jordan’s plans. “They’re starting tomorrow. And [King Abdullah] said, ‘The only problem we’re going to have is running out of fuel and bullets.'”
The Examiner notes that neither King Abdullah nor any of the bipartisan U.S. lawmakers mentioned President Obama during the meeting.
