Following the lead of CBS, HBO and Showtime, Nickelodeon CEO Philippe Dauman announced this week that he will launch the Nickelodeon network outside of a pay television subscription. As of now, if you want to watch Nickelodeon, you are required to purchase an obnoxiously expensive bundled cable or satellite package that includes dozens of channels you don’t want.
That will change this year. Details are coming next month but this over-the-top service will certainly be some sort of streaming channel.
The ala carte world is slowly but surely arriving.
