As the Miss Universe competition drew to a close on Sunday night, fighter Manny Pacquiao threw a roundhouse right of a question at Miss USA. “If you were given 30 seconds to deliver a message to global terrorists, what would you say?” he asked.
Her answer:
If I was given 30 seconds to give a message to the global terrorists, I would just say that, you know, as Miss USA I could always spread a message of hope, and love, and peace, and so I would do my very best to spread that message to them and everyone else in the world.
After she finished reading from the Obama administration foreign policy handbook, she looked somewhat miffed. She should have. She lost to Miss Colombia – who, presumably, would have given a better answer, given that her country has been plagued by terrorism on a wide scale.
Miss Colombia, for the record, was asked about what women could learn from men. She rambled about equality. But she looks like this, so whatever.
By the way, Miss USA didn’t just bumble the terrorism question. She was asked, along with all the other contestants, “What is the greatest contribution of your country to the entire world?” Her answer:
I’m very proud to live in the USA, and I’m honored to represent it, and I feel like the contribution is that we have a wonderful influence on the world and we can always help other countries if they need our help and we can always give back.
That would be soft-selling American influence quite a bit. But she looks like this, so whatever.
