Hollywood Sexism: Actress Says Too Much Emphasis on Female ‘Orgasm Face’

English actress Ruth Wilson suggested this week that actresses are getting screwed by a new type of inequality in Hollywood — one that puts too much emphasis on the female “orgasm face.”

Wilson, who won a Golden Globe award for her role in The Affair, opened up about her problems with “getting down” on television to The Edit magazine.

“Why have I got to do the orgasm face? There should be a male orgasm face. Why is it always the woman?” she asked about presentation of sex on screen.

Wilson also finds it unnecessary and unfair that women have to provide the “titillation” because men are not allowed to expose their penises.

“It’s assumed that women will get their breasts out and have to get their breasts out and I balk at that,” she said

Furthermore, Wilson holds a brief with her male counterpart Dominic West prior to each sex scene to ensure their body language corresponds with the narrative.

“So for Dominic and myself, every time it came up we asked, ‘Do we need this? What are we saying with it?” she explained.

Though the actress moaned about her problems with televised orgasms, she seems to be proud of her work.

“It’s hard to make good sex scenes work. There are so many crap ones out there,” she finished.
