Glee star Naya Rivera shared her opinion on The View on Tuesday that bathing once a day is only a “white people thing,” after the show’s co-host Nicolle Wallace informed the audience she showers multiple times a day.
After the revelation from Wallace, Rivera apparently decided to take on the daunting task of generalizing the hygienic habits of all people of color, when she disclosed her theory that ethnic people do not engage in showering.
“I have a theory about showering … which is I think that white people shower a lot more than ethnics,” said Rivera, “I think that, like, showering more than once a day or every day is such a white people thing.”
The actress cited information from her dermatologist that a person should only shower once or twice every three days, and said she believes she is “right on the mark.”
She also said that her mother, who is black and Puerto Rican, showers daily, and her husband Ryan Dorsey, a white man, showers “like a lot. Like two, three times a day.”
As expected, Twitter users had a few things to say on the subject as well, and many weren’t kind to Rivera:
