Rap star Eminem fulfilled a terminally ill fan’s dying wish–the opportunity to meet his favorite artist–just 24 hours before the teen succumbed to his illness.
According to TMZ, 17-year-old Michigan native Gage Garmo’s final wish was to meet his favorite rapper, Eminem. Garmo was diagnosed last week with Osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, and was told he had only one week to live. Garmo’s friends immediately took to Twitter to launch the hashtag #GetGageGarmoToMeetEminem, and the rapper apparently heard about it, because he arranged a visit Sunday evening at Garmo’s home.
Eminem visited with Garmo around 5 pm Sunday, according to the report. The pair spent an hour talking and hanging out, and the teenager was reportedly “in good spirits” throughout the visit.
Unfortunately, Garmo passed away Monday, just 24 hours after meeting his favorite artist. Garmo’s family told TMZ the visit meant a lot to the teen, and that it “really raised his spirits.”
Garmo’s family and friends reportedly held a candlelight vigil at Michigan’s Richmond High School Monday night.
