The R&B artist, who calls himself “The Weeknd” (not to be confused with the term commonly used for Saturday and Sunday) was arrested in Las Vegas over the weekend (not to be confused with the aforementioned R&B singer) for allegedly punching a police officer.
Sources close to the investigation told TMZ that an altercation involving “The Weeknd,” whose legal name is Abel Tesfaye, began inside the Cromwell Hotel around 4:20 AM Saturday, and was still ongoing upon their arrival to the scene.
Tesfaye was then reportedly arrested for battery of a protected person, after he allegedly hit an officer. He soon posted bail, and, after his release, uploaded a photo to Instagram of himself boarding a private jet, captioned, “escaped from Las Vegas.”
The artist found recent success after the release of his duet with pop singer Ariana Grande, titled “Love Me Harder.”
