Bill Maher: Paris Attack Suggests Muslims ‘Share Bad Ideas’

During the airing of HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher on January 9, Maher commented on the Charlie Hebdo attack by saying that while he believes “the vast majority of Muslims would never do anything like this,” it seems “they share bad ideas.”

According to Politico, Maher told guest Salman Rushdie, “What we’ve said all along and have been called bigots for it, is when there’s this many bad apples, there’s something wrong with the orchard.”

Rushdie demurred slightly but said, “Don’t come to me for a defense of Islam.”

Maher then joked about the Paris attackers being “Amish” to make a point for the benefit of those who are too blinded by political correctness to consider the behavior that marks practitioners of certain belief systems.

He added, “As a jokester, I just have to say the world just needs to stand as one [against the terrorists], quote the immortal Dick Cheney, say, ‘Go F*ck yourself.'”
