Actress Lindsey Lohan was looking to catch some rest while vacationing in the French Polynesian, but instead caught something else; a virus called Chikungunya.

Lohan has been working on her stage debut at The Playhouse in London’s West End on the production of Speed-the-Plow. After wrapping up a two-month run of the show at the end of November, she set out for vacation. That’s where Lilo is believed to have contracted the disease, which can be spread by mosquito bites.

She has since taken to Twitter to warn others to be vigilant when visiting areas heavily populated by mosquitoes:

Lohan seemed to be in better spirits just a day after first opening up about contracting the virus, also tweeting:

According to the Centers for Disease Control, the Chikungunya virus is transmitted to people by mosquitoes, with he most common symptoms of the infection being fever and joint pain. Other symptoms may include headache, muscle pain, joint swelling, or rash.

The CDC report also states, “There is no vaccine to prevent or medicine to treat Chikungunya virus infection. Travelers can protect themselves by preventing mosquito bites. When traveling to countries with Chikungunya virus, use insect repellent, wear long sleeves and pants, and stay in places with air conditioning or that use window and door screens.”
