A rapper named Big Paybacc was fatally shot inside of a McDonald’s fast food restaurant in Palmdale, California at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday Nov. 6, reports CBS News.
Law enforcement told reporters that the victim, whose real name is Habeeb Ameer Zekajj, was eating lunch when a man entered the establishment unannounced and shot him before fleeing the scene on foot.
“There was no altercation that the [witnesses] saw,” a reporter told CBS. “This guy just walked in through one door, shot him and left out another door. So it looked like something personal. He had something against this individual. It wasn’t like he shot up the McDonald’s. He just shot him and left.”
Police said there were 15 patrons inside the restaurant at the time of the shooting, and Zekajj was pronounced dead at the crime scene.
Juan Fernandez, a reporter from CBS2, spoke with the victim’s distraught girlfriend, Jessica Jefferson, on Thursday night
“I just knew it,” she said. “I drove by and saw his truck… I had just seen him. He left my house to come here.”
She also couldn’t believe the manner in which her boyfriend was shot.
“For them to be that bold to run up to someone in a McDonald’s in daylight, in front of people, kids you know, and to just take some kind of vengeance on somebody, it’s, it’s inhumane,” she continued.
Jefferson told Fernandez that the couple had plans to move in together, and Zekajj had just relocated from the valley. He reportedly leaves behind three children.
“Everybody loves him,” Jefferson explained. “everybody loves him, and he’s a good rapper, and he has so many followers, and people who stand behind him. He really is a good, solid person.”
