Because no one has ever been allowed to continue to topline feature films put into wide release after so many flops through so many years, Nicole Kidman must hold the record for consecutive box office catastrophes starring an A-lister.
This weekend, Ms. Box Office Poison adds Before I Go to Sleep, a thriller released on 1900 screens that couldn’t crack the top ten and likely won’t crack $3 million.
Other than voice work in 2006’s “Happy Feet,” and since winning the Best Actress Oscar for The Hours in 2002, every film Kidman has starred in has either disappointed or ranked as a full blown catastrophe. Big budget or small doesn’t matter. Kidman is a box office poison that refuses to go away.
