Comic actor Jason Biggs brought his 2014 Apology Tour to The View earlier today.
We’re still waiting for a single “sorry” for slamming the wives of GOP politicians in vile fashion.
Biggs, featured on the buzzy Netflix show Orange Is the New Black, is continually sorry for tweeting an insensitive joke minutes after the Malaysia flight exploded in the sky Thursday, killing its 298 passengers. The Hollywood Reporter captured his latest mea culpa.
I certainly meant no harm; there was no malice, but I was stupid,” he continued. “It was poorly timed. I’ve always tried to find the humor in situations … it’s a knee-jerk reaction for me, it’s how I cope.
Biggs had little intention of apologizing at first. If one reads his list of tweets after the airlines joke it’s clear he wanted folks to simply lighten up. But the social media pressure became too intense, and one too many media outlets covered the matter. That forced his hand and kicked off his current tour.
That predictable journey never started two years ago when Biggs blasted two innocent women connected to the GOP via marriage on Twitter. Why would it? No major media sites demanded an apology. After all, Biggs coarsely insulted women associated with the Republican Party. Did it matter that the women, Ann Romney and Janna Ryan, weren’t even politicians?
Right of center media outlets covered the situation fairly. Most reporters either ignored the issue or, like the Associated Press, downplayed Biggs’ comments to protect the actor.
Can anyone honestly say Biggs wouldn’t still be on an apology tour had he featured Michelle Obama in his anus-centered gags back in 2012? It might be the only gig he still had.
