Director Kathryn Bigelow and screenwriter Mark Boal–of Zero Dark Thirty fame–are reportedly working on a film on Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, “who left his base in Afghanistan,” was captured, and was ransomed when Obama exchanged five Guantanamo Bay detainees for him.
According to Deadline.com, another project on Bergdahl is in the works as well. “Fox Searchlight has acquired ‘America’s Last Prisoner of War,’ an investigative article by Michael Hastings, the Rolling Stone reporter who died at age 33 in a car accident in Los Angeles last year.”
Deadline reports that In The Bedroom and Little Children director Todd Field “is also involved” in the Fox Searchlight project.
