The notion of paying female employees to stay home and recover from their monthly menstrual cycles got a celebrity supporter this week.
Singer Macy Gray, best known for her hit I Try, got approached by a TMZ reporter who asked what she thought of a proposal which would allow women to take off work with pay if their period became too uncomfortable.
Gray seemed to like the idea on face value.
“Yeah, I think so. It’s a little painful. It’s not a good day at work,” she told the TMZ reporter.
That puts her in company with The Huffington Post which also endorsed the idea this week; the editors of the left-wing news aggregator declared on their homepage that “America Is Way Behind On Paid ‘Menstrual Leave.”
