The Duck Dynasty clan is coming back next month, and they’re bringing along a powerful pal to christen the show’s sixth season.
The show muscled past the brief suspension of family patriarch Phil Robertson late last year, and now Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal will appear during the first batch of new episodes. Clearly, the program’s pop culture might wasn’t compromised by the imbroglio over Robertson’s GQ interview regarding homosexuality nor the media’s willingness to tarnish the show as a result.
A&E announced the sixth round of Duck Dynasty will begin at 10 p.m. EST June 11. The premiere episode will feature Jindal giving Willie Robertson a Commerce Award.
The sixth season of the series. which follows the Robertsons as they juggle their family life and successful duck-call business, will find family patriarch Phil Robertson increasingly entangled in his never-ending battle with the beavers on his land. Willie, meanwhile, tries to keep everything afloat while managing brother Jase’s deadpan humor alongside Uncle Si’s backwoods philosophies. Outside of the family business, Miss Kay decides she has time to take up coupon-cutting while the whole family gathers around to cheer on Reed as he graduates from high school.
The show’s ratings dipped during its current season, but Duck Dynasty still hauls in far more viewers than critical darlings like The Daily Show and HBO’s Girls.
