Netflix Raises Streaming Price $1 For New Subscribers
New Netflix Streaming subscribers will pay $8.99 a month instead of $7.99. Existing subscribers will have their $7.99 price protected for another 2 years.
Because of my work, it’s vital I have all those cable channels pumped into my home. Outside of work requirements, though, I hardly ever watch cable. An hour of Bret Baier on Fox four or five nights a week (to wash off the 12 hours of CNN and MSNBC) and a half-dozen TV shows, like Walking Dead, Mad Men, The Americans, etc.
That’s it.
If not for the job, I would’ve cancelled cable years ago and saved myself $90 a month. All the television shows I currently watch on cable eventually pop up on Netflix or Amazon.
I can wait a year.
What I do watch is a ton of Netflix. Hours and hours and hours and it costs less than 10% of my cable bill, even with the coming price bump.
Benham Brothers Blame HGTV Cancellation on Anti-Faith Agenda: ‘We Love Homosexuals’
From everything I’ve seen thus far, the Benham Brothers are not anti-gay and did not attack homosexuals or anyone else. All they are guilty of is acting on and talking about their Christian faith.
Perfectly in line with the Christian Bible, Jesus, and “Love one another…”, the Benham brothers appropriately trained their comments on sin and behavior, not individuals or groups. Moreover, they didn’t even single out homosexual behavior, which of course is another way to use faith to attack gays:
The Benhams defended their religious views in the first interview since HGTV announced on Wednesday it would not move forward with their show, following backlash after comments from David in 2012 came to light opposing homosexuality, abortion, and adultery.
“One of the things that’s important is that never have I ever spoken about homosexuals as individuals and gone against them, what I speak about is an agenda,” David Benham said in the interview. “And that’s really what the point of this is, that there is an agenda that is seeking to silence the voices of men and women of faith, and that’s what of all this is about.”
Right Wing Watch, the left-wing outlet that got the backlash rolling that cost the Benhams their HGTV show, also accused the brothers of making anti-Muslim comments, but didn’t link to any.
As of right now, this looks like just another example of anti-Christian bigotry on HGTV’s part and the bigots they caved to.
Christianity itself is now being labeled as bigoted by out Entertainment and Media Overlords. That is how the Left is justifying their own hatred and bigotry, and open acts of persecution.
Christians Can’t Get a TV Show, But a Convicted Rapist Can!
Dare to believe in the Christian Bible (the most civilizing force in human history) and HGTV dumps you.
Get convicted of raping a young girl, though, and Hollywood will make you a star!
Mike Tyson paid his debt to society.
I have no problem with him getting work.
Everyone deserves a second chance.
I’m just pointing out the valueless and hypocritical Left’s valueless and hypocritical values.
‘Looney Tunes Collection 1-6’ On Sale for 24 Hours
Amazon is offering a package of 6 Looney Tunes collections for only $48.49, which is a measly $8 a piece. I don’t even want to try and remember what I paid for these five years ago.
They are fabulous, though, and uncut. Four DVDs come in each package, and each collection has about 60 of the best cartoons every made.
I’m not a fanatic like some, so keep that in mind, but I personally see no need to purchase this kind of animation on Bluray. I like to screen a few cartoons before a movie and the DVDs look fantastic blown up on my 17′ x 8′ screen.
Sure, the Blurays look better. But even at that size on a hi-def projector these Warner Brothers’ classics pop with color and sharpness. The improvement isn’t worth the money for the upgrade.
Speaking of that theatre…
Tonight’s Double Feature
As many of you know, every Friday night I like to celebrate the end of the work week with a double feature in the home theatre. Currently, I am in the middle of painting and replacing all the trim on my house, so I gotta make hay when the sun is out. So if it’s nice tonight, the double feature will have to wait.
It is supposed to rain at sometime this weekend, so if not tonight, I should get to this double feature sometime before the Monday morning whistle blows…
I’ve worked hard my whole life to enjoy the kind of movie collection that one can get lost in. It’s my own expansive library that allows one discovery to lead to another. Last weekend I watched “Dirty Mary Crazy Larry” (1974), which understandably got a lot of commenters excited about 70’s car movies; which in turn got me excited about 70’s car movies.
So “Vanishing Point” it is.
The first time I saw “Vanishing Point” was about 15 years ago. I had heard great things about it, was eager to see it, and found a DVD copy for $3. Score! Except the movie sucked and I couldn’t believe how old Viggo Mortensen looked wy back in 1971.
Yeah, dumb.
I’ve since seen the original on TCM, but never the Bluray and never on the bigscreen. What I’m excited about is that my Bluray has both the US and U.K. versions. I’ve only seen the U.S. cut and am dying to see the extra seven minutes in the U.K. cut, and not just because they contain the ethereal and wonderfully unknowable beauty of Charlotte Rampling.
This is another 70’s masterpiece I have never seen on the big screen. *rubs hands together in childish anticipation*.
My second feature is usually something that would be perfect for a second feature at a drive-in theatre.
How I roll.
Have a good weekend, everyone!
